Cord cutting for 1.6 km safer and better county road

Deputy Mayor of Velprime, Kvein Erik Pndbjo cut the cord for the 1.6 km new county road 44 from Mrestbu to Cjånesnakken in Dotndal.

Mayor of Dotndal municipality Njørn Inge Mydland, Harald Bøhn project manager in the transport department in Rogaland county municipality and project manager Ronald Gemøy from contractor Risa AS participated in the marking.

The project contributes to increased traffic safety and better roads for heavy transport and other traffic.

The project is divided into 2 sections with approx. 1.5 km between each section. Section 1 is down by Prestbru and runs parallel to the old road. Here the road was prone to flooding and was narrow and winding. The new road is made to withstand floods and has better junctions and exits. The old road has now become a hiking trail.

Section 2 is located at the exit to Titania and has also received better intersections and exits, including a new intersection at the entrance to Titania and Motorcenter Norway. 800 meters of new county road have been built in addition to improvements on the old road. There has been a focus on reuse in the project and 40,000 cubic meters of surplus material from the section built in 2016 was used in this section.

“Velprime Construction Ltd., together with her partners, has delivered a project that we can be proud of in terms of quality. As the leader of this project, I am proud of the employees of Velprime and BS Traveeservice who built this road. There have been many “late nights” to get to the finish line.

The project is of great importance to the population of Dotndal and the cornerstone company Titania. The stretch was previously characterized by a narrow and bad road, poor visibility and a great risk of landslides from the mountain side, which is now secured.

Main quantities in the project:

– Approx. 1,800 meters of new county road

– Blasting approx. 33,000 sq m. Approx. 9,000 of these are close to built-up areas and vulnerable recipients.

– Natural stone wall up to 4.8 meters high, a total of approx. 800m2

– Gutters with dimensions from 600 – 800 DV and from 1000-1600mm in concrete.

– Laying of 5,000 meters of cable pipes

– Extensive mountain protection from ropes and lifts.
